Anyone see Transformers?

With all of the rainstorms down here in Texas, the only transformers I see are the ones being blown up by the lightning strikes!

Lost one near our house and it was awhile before power was restored...amazing how dependent we are on electricity...couldn't do ANYTHING!

MercedesShop withdrawals set in....AAUUUUUGGHHHHHHH!!!!

Ok back on topic...no I haven't seen it. The technology that produces that "transforming" effect is pretty neat! Noticed that there are car commercials that already take advantage of it...figure music videos to be up next. If Jacko were still doing that sort of thing, he would have already produced a hit video featuring something like that...even though a decade ago he already produced a video where he transforms into a robot.

^Then from a robot into a car, then back to himself again before the awesome dance routine in the bar

But back on topic I really really want to see this movie! One of my all time favorite cartoons when I was growing up. Might catch it this weekend. I am going to pretend that people are saying it sucks so I can like it instead of it being over hyped in my head lol

I saw it with my 12 year old. Lots of action and very loud. Essentially it is a very long General Motors commercial and Go-Army promotion and a touch of "I am woman, hear me roar" at the end. There are a lot of GMs in favorable settings (soccer Mom's with their kids safely buckled up in their nice secure GM mini-van, while the kids sees the action and gives his best "neato" reactions). Most of the Fords I saw were taxi's.

There was a black with silver trim W126 that got smashed - which is totally beyond the laws of physics, so the movies was flawed with that for me.

I could sit through it again, so I might take my 11 year old if he wants me to (unlike the Yu Gi Oh Movie).

Is it just me or is product placement in movies and TVs shows becoming simply nauseating? You've got Dell and Apple all over the CSI series, most movies are now all infused with bloody car placements - the new Bond is a great example. That idiotic Ford got more screen time than the Aston Martin. Even one of my fav 'indie' shows, Dirty Job with Mike Rowe, is starting to have ad placements.

Haven't seen Transformers, but it looks like a fun flick. Probably on my rental list.

It's not just you. My wife and I watched Casino Royale last weekend, and we both thought the product placement was not subtle at all. It really took a lot away from the movie.

Glad to hear you agree. Not that I would ever buy a Ford, but that kind of 'in your face' marketing doesn't work for me at all.

a good amount of german cars were smashed in the movie (boo)

and the product placement was of course obvious (down to the memory cards used to steal govt information)

but It was still pretty cool to see...

I might see it this weekend. One of my friends was a big fan when he was little and he is looking for people to drag along. If I do see it I plan on getting smashed before hand so it should be fun.

It really pisses me off to have to shell out $9.00 for a movie ticket, only to have to sit through a bunch of commercials. That's BEFORE the movie even begins. Yeah, I'd say we're being advertised to death.

No wonder Americans are the world's beggest consumer nation!

It's one big GM advertisement directed by Michael Bay.

Not bad but I still like the original movie much better.
