Trying to find the necessary motivation to write up a recommendation regarding a division's readiness for moving their outsourced products from the current, incestuously related and poorly run contract manufacturer to a better established, more professional one. Without using phrases like "Are you f'n kidding me?" or "Anybody with more than 3 functioning brain cells would recognize the risks in this situation." As of right now, those are the LEAST offensive quotes from my recommendation.
Waiting for the bug guy to show up, hoping he doesn't agree with the fear in me gut that says the formerly believed to be old borer damage is not so very old. Working from home today so I can see the bug guy, but also so that I can tend to the zoo while Darling Wife chaperone's Ed up to PA to visit his former fiancé.... they were together before Ed met Ma, broke up, went their separate ways but stayed in touch. Linda got diagnosed with breast cancer ~ 7 years ago, beat it. It came back, in her spine, 4 years ago, beat it. Came back in her liver a few months ago. She ain't gonna beat it. Ed's been making the ~150 mile round trip to see her a couple times a week for the past several months, offering what support he can to Linda (the former fiancé) and her 13 year old daughter. He had himself convinced he could save her - took a class on reikki (a healing touch sort of thing) and started giving her 'treatments.' Started buying her 'special' water that was supposed to make her body more alkaline. He's now recognizing that she isn't going to get saved. Has left him in no shape to make the drive on his own, so we took him up Sunday when the daughter called and said "it's time." It was time again yesterday while I was at work, so Darling Wife ran him on her own. Gonna do it again today, and figure out tomorrow - well, sometime between now and then. Today is Joanie's birthday - supposed to be heading to her cafe for a killer party. Playing that one by ear...... |

The stock market seems to have cooled down a bit lately. Hopefully, this is just a hiccup on the Dow's way back to 12,000 . . .
I was tearing out the tile in my fireplace hearth the other night and then started trying to chip out the mortar underneath that, when I noticed I was making a pretty deep hole. So, I stopped. maybe I will patch up the hole and lay my marble tile on top of the old mortar. Anybody have any experience with a project like this? |
trying to finish up my last program for my computer science class.

Basketball season is here so it's two kids, each in two leagues, playing or practicing somewhere, sometime. The wheels never stop rolling. Still two more to get into the mix in the not-too-distant future.
I've been waiting for the roofing guy to come out and give me a price on re-roofing my rear dormer since we've had some new leaks in my daughter's room. He's got a good rep and fixed some problems we had in the spring (said the original job, not installed by him, was poorly done) but I'm starting to get impatient. I'd really like to get my daughter's ceiling torn down so that I can insulate it and put up some new sheet rock. Not much sense in doing anything until the roof is taken care of, though. |
