Theism is a belief system of some sort. A-theism is kind of like a negative or better yet, a vacuum, isn't it? I don't know if you can subdivide nothingness. Wouldn't that be similar to proving a negative?

I don't know and maybe that's why I'm having a difficult time trying to clearly express it.

I think that maybe it's a problem of the name -- I suspect created by a theistic philosopher to describe those who did not believe as he did. If an atheistic philosopher had been the first one to publish, would he have used some other descriptive system like maybe, "realists and unrealists"? In which realists deal with things as they are and unrealists live in another world?

(I don't intend to insult anybody's beliefs and I know I'm getting near the edge.)
