auto dimming mirror wiring help
I got a cheap auto dimming mirror but I need help figuring out what car it came from. I can't make out an OE part number but it says Gentex on the shell. It has 3-pin and 2-pin connectors rather than the generic 6- or 8-pin connector. There are violet, blue/white and black/green wires out of the 3-pin connector and no wires out of the 2-pin connector. What's odd is there's an off-lo-hi slide switch rather than a soft touch on/off button. It doesn't have temp, compass or map light features.
Any thoughts on the original application of this mirror? Thanks, Sixto 87 300D |

Wire colors suggest it's out of a late model Dodge, maybe Intrepid or Durango.
Blue/white = switched +12V, black/green = ground, violet = signal that transmission is in reverse. Still no idea about the other connector or switch positions. Sixto 87 300D |

It sounds as if the violet wire causes to mirror to eliminate the dimming feature while the vehicle is in Reverse. Presumably it's powered by the reverse light circuit.
