Is there a database of crime definitions?

Is there a place online where you can find out what class of crime and specific crime belongs to? Like what is a misdemeanor vs. felony? My brother in law was denied a gun purchase for what he thinks is a DWI from over 10 years ago. He says it is a misdemeanor, but he was in the big house. I think it had to be a felony, and should be. Also, is it possible that different states rate the same crime differently?

You just need to get on your state website where the statutes are located. Very specifically spelled out there. Cornell's site is also very, very good--lli or something--just go to Cornell Law School and take it from there. Alot of law review articles and SupCo opinions, ect.....

Don't waste time on definitions that are not state specific.
