We're Great Grandparents !! (again)

Well, if Nicks' dachshund having pups makes him a Grandfather, and is worthy of a thread. (And we here do feel it is. Our congrats to Nick.)

Then DJ and I just became Great Grandparents once again. Our kids’ goats had kids last night!! Our sons’ doe had a cute little girl, and our daughters’ doe had twin girls.

We’ve had countless numbers of Black Angus calves, but this is our first at having goats.

We’ve got 3 more goats set to “pop” any time now.
Guess the kids won’t get much sleep tonight!
Get the "barn blankets" out!

(Animal births here are one of the few things we let the kids have a “Ferris Bueller Day” for.[Pending no tests or major projects.])

I have always harbored a love for the pygmy goats. I threaten every few months to put in a wireless fence and turn a coupe of them loose in my urban 1/2 acre woods.

I have always wondered if the zoning would allow them as pets or if they would draw a hard line and consider them livestock.

A hundred years ago lots of folks in town had cows and chickens, I think.

I would like to see the mini mule!

Tom,

The way things are going in Michigan, we may have to start keeping a barnyard behind our house's, just like they did in the old days, not that long ago.

Just think of it...fresh eggs and fresh chicken for the Sunday Dinner. If we got a horse or Mule, you couldn't get any GREENER, for urban transportation. Dig a covered pit for the manure and other compostables, tap the methane gas, to run a small generator, and sell the electricty, back to the power company for a credit, unless you owned a lot of livestock. Get a windmill to pump water from your well, and have generator on it, and sell the electricity to the power company.

The good old gays may be coming back. This doesn't sound too far fetched to me. What do some of tou guys think?

Goats are important and useful. Some people can't drink cow milk, and goat milk saves them. I had to drink it for years as a child. My mother had to go to a goat farm in Marin county to buy it.
