Do you seek out American made toilet paper and shampoo?

What about auto parts.........think you can determine where they are sourced?

You should see the arguments on garagejournal about USA-made tools and imported tools...egads! I don't necessarily care where items come from, as long as the item I buy is serviceable and does what it is advertised to do. Let's not forget how people used to snicker about Japanese junk?! The Koreans are making fine electronics and cars now, can the Chinese be far behind?

I happen to like Snap-On tools and will spend a fortune for US made tools. I could give a hoot where flip flops come from, but I'd rather spend $7 for a pair for my wife that the dogs will eat anyway, than $50 for a fancy pair that the dogs will chew on.

I dislike the store and its environment, its very large, full of annoying people, and sells products of poor quality. I support retailers I like. I prefer to purchase things from small local places, even if it costs more.

I do buy oil from Walmart, if I wasn't broke I'd just get it at the dealer to avoid them totaly. I'd happly pay an extra $5 a gallon to avoid going to Walmart.

I don't think that I could ever hold Walmart responsible in any way shape or form, for the sandals causing that infection/rash, whatever it is if I were in this person's shoes(Punn intended).

All they do, is retail them. Walmart does not manufacture them.

This individual, could have just as easily purchased this exact same product at Target, Sears, JC Penny, Or any one of a million other retailers, and had the exact same problem.

I'm no doctor, but to me, this looks like some sort of personal allergic reaction or something. Possibly a reaction to the material itself.

Walmart is not in any way responsible in even the slightest way, in my oppinion. I suppose we are all entitled to our oppinion though.

So, tell me, where do you buy your toilet paper, toothpaste, soap, and other such articles? Somehow, I'll bet that it's not at a local mom and pop store. And, I'll also bet that you buy the same exact products that Wal-Mart sells.

How about windshield washer fluid........oil.......transmission fluid? Think the McParts provides a higher class of people and a better "environment"? You're buying commodities..........not going out to dinner..........

Today I bought an ACE 1 1/2 inch J bend slip joint pipe with both nuts and plastic washers for the kitchen sink. I was parked right next to Home Depot today while food shopping but it didn't even occur to me to go inside. Instead I drove to the local hardware store. Paid $9.50 with tax. It is run by an elderly gent and a younger couple. One of them is usually talking to a customer even if the sale is already made. Then one of the others will appear and wait on me. A friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I started going there when the big box stores didn't have the oddball flourescent light I needed. Just a straight tube but 28 inch or so I forget. The hardware store had a spot for them but was out, so ordered it for me.
So now I got curious to check the ACE package to see where the pipe is made and got surprised: Manufactured in USA

Why actualy their is an excellent grocery store down the street that has all the toiletries you can want. They also have an excellent selection in regards to food, pretty much everything Stop and Shop has. I hate Stop and Shop and don't go their very often either. Pricing is slightly less than S&S so I'm saving a bit as well. As for fluids like ATF and oil, and waxes thats split between Autozoo or Carquest. Autozoo is just as bad as Walmart but I can handle it because its quick in and out. Carquest is very pleasent, I know the counter guy and we talk about real estate or cars as he rings me out. Excellent service.

I hate Walmart and I don't shop their because I hate it. I also refuse to use those self check out things. I self check out online only.

That mom and pop grocery store is a noted exception. They don't exist here anymore.

The point is the fact that Stop and Shop or Autozoo or Pep Boys hire the same 'tards as Wal-Mart and carry the same products as Wal-Mart. There really is no defining difference between them. Your argument against Wal-Mart is only valid for the mom and pop shop.

That's a little bit of an exaggeration on the theme I was preaching. Maybe I was being unclear. I'm not saying EVERYTHING has to be completely Yankee-Doodle.

My shampoo is German and I only use American TP.

As far as auto parts go....the same applies. European stuff only. Just stay away from any third-world manufactured products even just for the consideration of the conditions they were manufactured under.

Well other than wax, rags, and once and a while oil I never darken the door of Autozoo.

Everything else is a mom and pop store. I find that often they are cheaper as well however somtimes you end up paying more, but dealing with normal people=priceless.

Amazon.com lets me avoid a lot of the other big box stores, I'm a very patient person I don't mind waiting a week or so for product.

The question that should be asked is WHY don't they exist anymore?
Walmart is a huge example of this problem. In the same way the Japanese flooded the market with underpriced cars and other junk. That is until Reagan stopped it.
Eckerds and Walgreens are also part of the problem. Senator Eckerd and the pharmacutical companies created laws that favored large retail stores and drove up prices. They did that out of greed not fro the benefit of the average American.
This country has been raped and pillaged for way too long. The large retailers are the main problem.
