And it tastes better as well.............
http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/1/24/nonfat-milk-linked-to-prostate-cancer.aspx Drinking low-fat or nonfat milk may increase a man’s risk of prostate cancer, while calcium and vitamin D intake appear to have little or no impact, according to two new studies.

wish they'd make up their minds. Last I heard, a fatty diet CONTRIBUTED to prostate cancer.
Doesn't matter for me. Either I keep my fat intake low, or I'll die of a heart attack after already cheating death twice(2 angioplasties). But then maybe a fast death by heartattack would be better than a slow death by cancer. ![]()

When I was a kid, I'd drink whole milk, or even milk from the farmer's cow around the corner. Now, I prefer skim, as it doesn't coat my mouth with this film of "stuff". Plus, 8grams of fat per glass, is a bit much.

I use whole cream for my coffee now and then, half and half works but regular milk in coffee tastes weak.
Don't drink milk as a beverage any more -- mostly just cheese, ice cream, . . .

Yogurt is what our family consumes, quite common in Indian houses. Taken straight or used in cooking to form base for the sauces.

Ghurk we eat a lotta yogurt too. Some garlic, dill, cucumbers, ground pepper, chives... damn good stuff!
Tom yogurt is made with pasteurized milk AFAIK. There is stuff that is re-pasteurized after it is yogurt, again, which kills all the helpful little bacteria in the yogurt.

We make yogurt at home from live cultures. The Yogurt which I make in US is different from what is made at my house in India. The one in US is a different bacillus and the yogurt formed is softer whereas in India its firmer. I use raw milk in US as well as India. I also make Kefir at home.

I always loved whole milk, I'd go through huge volumes of it in the past. I also just love half & half or whole cream (lots of it) in my morning cuppa joe. That all changed for me a while back, with an unplanned trip to the ER, and I've now gotten to where 1% milk on cereal is reasonably enjoyable. I've still yet to be able to switch to skim. My favorite fat these days is Avocado. |

Yep - Gurkha and I have talked about this before. My family and I drink whole milk, raw - straight from the farm. Kefir, cheese, buttermilk pancakes and yogurt too......and we make ice cream with milk, cream and maple syrup. It's great stuff.
If you're interested....google Weston Price or Sally Fallon. Fat is good - it just depends what kind it is.

Me too. The raw milk and kefir are responsible for me being able to digest milk properly again. I've avoided it since I was a kid until recently. Still no problems. I've even dropped a few pounds since starting to drink the raw, full fat milk.

Fat is needed by the body, the right kind that is. Homogenized full cream milk is not a good idea though as the fat molecules have tendency to stick to your hear valves. I have been using raw milk for years and also use Jaggery and Stevia as sweeteners.

I like the Persian drink "doogh" That is fermented yogurt with salt, pepper and mint. I also like Kafir and now that I know they are totally different drinks, I will make kafir at home. It seems that Kefir is more beneficial.
