Not sure how much I trust JD Powers. They like to use that "initial quality" thing. Yeah, great. But how about at 50k miles? That's putting the money on the line, IMHO.

Bah German cars are so nice that fixing a few things here or their isn't a big deal.
Besides everything breaks, one of the agents 06 TL just puked up a pretty pricey computer, go warranty!

Even my "Toyota" has potential issues. Here's a fun one I just found out about. Lower ball joints like to kinda fail
at around 80k miles. (This is a pic of a guys car on the Lexus forum, not mine)So, what ya do? Buy what ya like, take yer chances I guess.

Wow thats kind of serious, I'd change them ASAP!
![]() My theory is in general owning a car is an expensive PITA. So I rather enjoy the expensive PITA, and I like the ones with stars on the hood. So what if they break, thats why you have two! ![]()

That's exactly why I always own at least 3 vehicles. One breaks, we're not stuck hitching rides.

I once visted a Toyota forum, all the kids scared me away! They talk about, well I'm not sure what, a whole lot of nothing.
![]() See its a good thing MB's need maintenance! It creates this wonderfull forum! Heck the Rolls Royce crowed even has a term for break downs they are called, "a failure to proceed". Why doesn't the MB crowed have such a saying? Because they break less then RR probably.

I only needed a short ride to get hooked on them. They make the S class feel like a Honda! Everyone should experiance a proper RR at least once.

It's really a rather quiet forum. One reason I keep hangin' here I suppose
Even the "Open" forum there is like watching grass grow in winter. Maybe just a little more exciting than watching paint dry. The GS300/GS400 forum has a little activity, but mostly "What rims look good" and "how do you replace the subwoofer amp", stuff like that

The sad thing is, with "today's" car buyer, 50K is onto the 2nd (or 3rd) owner. That's why the "initial quality" is pumped so hard. The manufacturers don't exactly have people like us in mind when the build them anymore. Engineered obsolescence is key these days.
