Hints on dealing with problem with Travelocity
Made a car rental reservation with Travelocity when I went to England over Xmas. Car rental company was off the airport so was given instructions to call the company and wait at point X for a shuttle. When we got there, called the phone number, got voice mail which did not identify the company. I left a message to be picked up. No one arrived to pick us up. I called 3 or 4 more times, getting the same message This is an Orange answerphone but no person ever answered the phone. The clerk at the Budget Car Rental desk also called the number after checking on the internet to make sure I had the right phone number. She got the same anonymous voice mail. After waiting and hour and half, I gave up and rented a car from Avis at the airport. Cost me $800 more than the original rental cost.
Travelocity guarantees their reservations. Ive been hassling with them since January. Owner of the car rental company claims I did not call. Says their phone never goes to an anonymous voice mail. Ive tried the same number twice since Ive been home and gotten the same anonymous voicemail each time. Travelocity is refusing to pay the difference between the costs on the basis of the rental companies claim that I never called them to pick me up. Any advice on how to deal with this?
