The Man Thread----

O.K. help me out here guys. This is a two-parter. 1. Why do you keep broken stuff lying around in a garage or your home in the hopes that "one day you'll fix it" when you know you won't? 2. What's the oldest thing you have in your possession that you hope to "One Day Fix?"

#1 - I don't have anything like that lying around

#2 - The oldest thing in my possession that I hope to "One Day Fix?" is my wagon.

I was contemplating an answer, but was slightly distracted when walking through Nordstrom's women's shoe department and observing that it seems many women apparently don't have shoes. Then I was further distracted when contemplating why most men don't have "skinny" versions of their clothes in the closet.

I'll get back to you on your original questions.

1. Because they're cool. Women have worse habits

2. A Bang and Olufsen Beomaster stereo from the 1980s. The speakers work great, but I think the amp is fried on the stereo. It only a little bit of scratchy sound at full volume. I don't know who can repair something like this, but it's cool. They're also worth some serious dough when functioning properly, worth $500++ when complete and functioning properly.

The oldest things that I have are a couple of unfinished projects that my father kept around for fifty years and never finished. My mom asked me to clean out the garage after he died.

I couldn't bring myself to throw away his stuff!

Sick, right?

As if my own extensive list of unfinished projects is not enough!

1: Because I can, and I just need extra time....

2: I dont know what the oldest thing I want to fix is, but I have 3 amps, and 6 sets of speakers waiting to be fixed.

Answer to the first part of the question is "because were men".
Answer to the second part in my case, is various parts of Czech 98/22 Mauser rifles manufactured between 1914 and 1935 which I hope to refurb and turn into functional classical sniping arms.

1. Because it's far too valuable to be thrown away and "one day I'll fix it" or the day after I throw it out I'll need it for something. (Says the guy who can't even get in the door of his garage without moving boxes of stuff around. Although in my defense I do have a dumpster coming in a couple of weeks to...lighten...my treasure trove.)

2. Big Scale: 1969 International Scout 800. It's probably a lost cause but one day I'll fix it. Small Scale: 1957 Bolens Super Ride-A-Matic garden tractor that was my great-great grandfather's. It's probably a lost cause but one day I'll fix it!
