PT cruiser rear wheel bearing question

Hey anybody know about the rear "monobearing" on the pt? My right rear is clicking and I wanted to replace the bearings and they just want to sell me a hub assembly. I bought a Haynes and they don't even list a proceedure for packing the bearings.

What gives? Can't I repack the bearings? Is the only servicing possible really changing the entire hub?

My experience with almost all front wheel drive cars is a hub assembly replacement because the bearings require no service. My 84 Eldorado has no bearing service front or rear, ever.

Yeah, I changed one on my son's Honda. When I searched for the bearing, I learned that they only came as a hub assembly.

By the time you buy the bearing and pay a machine shop to press it on, it comes out about the same...

MB sells theirs the same way now as well.

The hub and bearing are one piece-the bearing races are machined into the hub.
Front hub on RWD cars is the same.

It's actually very easy to change as no adjustment needed. Just torque down the nut the holds it on.

I changed it yesterday. It was so easy I nearly laughed out loud.

There was no evidence of the bearing being bad once I got it out. It looks like with a needle I could squirt grease in there and get it pretty far back toward the seal.

Anybody try something like that?
