Drove a 750il the other day

Wow what a car. I would buy one used if I needed the car and my driving was mostly freeway. Really nice to drive, but the streight six is really quite fine thus I can't see the need for this much engene, but a very impressive car and a good deal at what they seem to be selling for.

You didnt say what year it year it was.

They are big, comfortable, sublime cruisers, but can be a nightmare to repair,
especially the V12 750il, even things like the depixillating numbers on the dashboard display....

Sometimes the game might not be worth the candle.

The Bangle styled ones, especially those at and right after 2002, are gross, ugly, and disgusting. This year they do look a lot better though.

The immediate pre Bangle ones are sinfully sexy looking, though, especially in deep dark ruby red....in the short wheelbase, the 8 cylinder 740i Sport is the best of them all to behold....

This was a 1999 with 105k. It was Alpine white over a tan interior. You got the comfort aspect right. I have never driver the 740il though, I wonder how much better the driving experience of the 750 is from the 740.

That is the sexy looking big body style, the 7-series from about 1996-2001 I think. The stylists
got that one "perfect", just right.

No difference in performance between the 740 and 750 that I could tell, that was appreciable.

But then, my experience on both was not over 100 mph, so I don't know, maybe at the exalted speeds above that speed, (acheived at dire risk to your driving license, in these out of joint times) there could be differences...

Likely that they could be bought for a song these days, with the price of gasoline being what it is.

If you are in the market, condition is everything, accident free with books and all records, if you want one of them.

The short wheelbase 740i is what I believe the most beautiful sedan of the 90's.

The longer wheelbase had the cladding on the bottom that kind of killed it.

I would take a 2001 740i over anything BMW has put out since, except perhaps something with an M badge on it.

I love those cars! My friend had a 1993 735IL back in highschool and it was amazing.

Avoid all 12 cylinder cars! The BMW has 3 computers to crap out. lots of moving parts. The 4.0 is a better car. Actually a 840i would be awesome.

A V12 is like dating a super model...very expensive...but oh so enjoyable.

The Mercedes 12's are not to bad. I havn't heard much good about the BMW 12's though.

Everyone should own a V12 at least once, nothing like it.

Quad cam V12, nothing sounds like that!

Yeah. Nothing like 24 spark plugs and two throttle bodies and computers. Seems to me that the only people who need a V-12 are supremely rich people. NOT ME!

I have a 740i Sport. Big, but it feels like I'm driving a 540i. The engine has the tick of death (been that way for the last 30k miles). I predict it will last me another year. Plop down $2k for a new engine and another $900 to install.
