Tom: Now you're talking! You are in my neck of the woods. Well sort of...
since I'm now 40 miles south of Cincy. Still, not a bad trip.

I did that last summer for a week, the truth is after a couple days I was bored as hell and could not wait for their return.

I really start missing the kids after about a day of business travel, 3-5 days is tough. I've never been in the house alone but I think a day or two flying solo might not be too shabby.

I just spent a few days short of a month away from my wife and daughter. Longest my wife and I have been apart in 32 years. I survived but it was too long. I assume they watched women movies and kept the house clean.

I've never experienced that. It must be eerie!

Me too, Tom. My wife kindly made me a big-a$$ bowl of chicken salad, so I have had, oh, four of those sandwiches the past two days, and a PB&J for breakfast today. I think there's some leftover pizza in the 'fridge that will probably be dinner tonight. Since she's gone, I can pull the rotors on her Saab and see if they can be turned. M.O. -- let the house go to hell all week, spend Friday furiously cleaning before she gets back.

Oh yeah; I can watch all the baseball I want this week, too. And I'll never turn the TV on and find that it was left on "HGTV" when last used.

In a cleaning fit, I sent the semi-rusty Weber off to the metal recyclers and have yet to replace it. I know -- stoooopid move with the Mrs. heading out of town. I'm too embarrassed to tell my buddies I can't cook out as I have no grill; I'm just trying to avoid them.

In other news, it's looking more and more like I will be sent to help with the flood relief business, so now I need to find someone to feed and walk the dogs and give the old one his medicine. Lord knows how long I might be gone doing that. Sigh...

I have a "baby Weber" of sorts -- good for burgers and whatnot -- but I can't be seen by my peers grilling on that thing, and it's not big enough for Beer Butt Chicken. Thanks for lookin' out for a brother, though!

My man bunny got excited yesterday from some chain saws operating nearby and bolted from his cage and slid off the deck. He is now at large in my 3/4 acre urban woods. I spotted him this morning but couldn't get near him. I am thinking of a way to get Humphrey Ann (his girlfriend bunny) in a place where when he gets near her I can catch him.

Wish me luck.

Good luck. Maybe dress Humphrey Ann in some Victoria Secret garb...that might help lure him back.

Tom,

I would put the female in a cage on the ground with a have-a-heart trap right next to it loaded with some of their normal food and something from his usual cage.
