Need some help regarding school book problem

Ok basically I signed up for summer school on the first day I was able to (so I could get the schedule I wanted).

So I signed up for a research methods psych class with a teacher who's ratemyprofessor ratings were good.

So, a month later (a week before class starts) I get an email from another professor saying "Welcome to the class blah blah" and I was like.... "I don't remember that being the teachers name??"

So I was informed of the book I needed.....of course....different from the one listed originally!!!

So basically the school switched teachers without informing me and now I am stuck with a $50 book that is worth $8 now so I can't even get close to getting my money back for it.

Should I peruse the school over this? What do you guys think?

Unless you have a boat load of disposable income, I'd be on the phone with the head of the department.

x2. I signed up for a math class with one of my favorite professors, and my school changed the professor at the last minute, as the original professor needed personal time.... The new professor changed the book as well.

I talked to the head of the math department, and they traded me books, no problems at all...

(sorry if this whole message is in caps.... I spilled soda on my computer, and my caps lock is stuck on...)

I think you should sue your English department immediately.

Book no good for class you signed up for in good faith?Reimbursement with a written explanation of cause.

Do you have documentation confirming the first choice of teacher and the requisite Lit?

Yes I have documented proof. It still shows on the website a different book for the class. I printed off my receipt for the courses that I purchased.

I will throw an email to the department head and see where it goes.

If you haven't waited too long, you should be able to return the book (if it's from your campus book store).

Just be thankful that you don't have any of my books. $100 is cheap in my case. I've probably spent over $1000 (easily) between undergraduate and the first year of my masters. Not sure about that class, but my books are generally well worth it to keep (I have referenced old ones from time to time...and you don't get much money when you sell them back to the bookstore -- that's how they make their money)

College is all about getting screwed over in regards to textbooks. If you haven't been there long you'll figure it out. If you've been there a while, you should already know. I say suck it up and quit whining. Keep the book and put it on a bookshelf, someone might see it and think you read it.

2X, when I went back to colloge in the early 90's books were about $70 each. That was actually reasonable. Go to a big name college or private college and you can pay $100 for a reading book that you would pay $12 at a local bookstore. If the class hasn't started, the book should be returnable for a full refund. At least it was out here. I think tech type books were about $100 each, for the last couple of classes I took. Fortunaley for me, my companies tuition reinbursment is 100% upfront.
