Why would anyone sell this car so cheap?

http://reno.craigslist.org/cto/812426216.html

The only reason I can think of is that the car is stolen. What do you think?

EDIT: Or maybe it's just another remote payment scam. The pictures don't look anything like Reno.

Googlemail.com resolves to gmail.com. There's about 8 different names that all go to the same place.

The location in the pictures is definitely not Reno. Notice the palm trees. They don't grow here.

Each Craigslist listing has flagging links that users can click. If enough users flag a particular listing it gets removed.

We regularly get those sort of listings (very desirable cars for insanely low prices) on our local Craigslist. They only last a while before being flagged into oblivion. In some cases, if one searches for the e-mail address using Google, one finds that the same ad showed up in Craigslist listings in a number of cities across the country.

I've always assumed that they're some sort of scam, but I've never investigated further.

We also have some ad-flagging vigilante who flags apparently legitimate dealer ads into oblivion if, in his opinion, said dealer has been putting up too many ads.

There are dozens of those fake ads on CL. Most originate from Nigeria.

So what's their angle? You pay them the deposit via Western Union and never hear from them again?

But if I bought the car, can I drive it across the ocean?
