First day of Kindergarten

Wish me luck.

I'm leaving the house in 5 minutes to walk our twins to school.

First day of Kindergarten!

Hope I don't cry.

Wow, a double shot!

Good luck, even though it was my 3rd time doing it, I still got a little choked up this last time around.

Cute. Walk to school? Who would have thunk that.

Believe it or not, I remember my first day in kindergarten, circa 1964. I had a great day. Then my mother woke me up next morning for day two. "I have to go back AGAIN?"

Enjoy these moments while they last! Good for you suginami for walking them to school...you will always cherish these memories!

My daughter was three when we moved to Texas not long ago...now, I'm dropping her off at the high school! It won't be long before you'll be waving your kids off to college!

It's a toughy Sug, my daughters first full day of school (1st grade) is today. Were praying for no issues with lunch, she's picky about what she eats. she will eat bluegill, venison, duck but won't have anything to do with junk food.

True words, but first come the terrible teens, and dating and driving.....
Speaking of college, and cost....

But wait until tomorrow. Enjoy today.

A few years back, myself and a few friends (since kindergarten) were talking about our first day and recalled some kid screaming at the top of his lungs, hanging on to the doorway with his mother trying to pry him loose from it. "That was me !!" exclaims Chris. "Holy $hit it was you !!!!" and roaring laughter was the response from the rest of us...

Everything went great.

They are both fairly outgoing and have been in pre-school for two years, so they were familiar with the drill.

They also enjoy the benefit of having each other for support.

What struck me when I saw the 20 kids in their class is how much things have changed since I was a kid.

My elementary school was 90% white.

Their class was about 10% black (both kids were mixed; one half-white, the other half Asian), 20% Asian, 30% white, and 40% hispanic.

It looked more or less like the United Nations.

It's amazing how much immigration has changed the racial mix of our children within the last 35 years.

I remember going with my dad, and he pointed the teacher out, but I just told him I knew where to go and I really didnt. I somehow picked out a teacher and followed her and just happened to pick the right one!
