Bridge demolition, redneck style

So, the county hires this company to demolish a substandard bridge.......

And the company goes out the bridge (rated for 24,000 pounds) with a 100,000 pound truck.......

The bridge was rated at 24,000 lbs...per AXLE according to the article. For a typical 18-wheeler with an evenly-distributed load, the limit would be 120,000 lbs.

Flatbed trailers designed to haul heavy construction equipment have additional axles, I believe.

A load limit of just 24,000 lbs would eliminate most school buses and light cargo trucks, for starters.

According to TxDot, the trailer load was about 33,000 pounds per axle.

Gives one lots of confidence in the quality of replacement/retrofit structure that contractor is going to provide.....gotta love low bid rules public works projects that any yahoo with the appropriate license can bid on.
