Ladybugs / beetles! Anyone else infested with them?
Every year for the past 14 years we have lived here everytime we have the first "cool" spell of the fall, the next warmup into the 70s-80s, we are overran with those little lady bugs or beetles. They are the red bugs with the black dots. They stick all over the house and get inside, etc. They are all over the neighborhood and other parts of town... they are terrible.
I am wondering if anyone else in this country / world has the same problem with these annoying things? |

I know what you mean, they look like a regular lady bug, but are not as bright? I have seen them as well around here, Toronto. I think they are not native to North America.
A quick google search http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2001/10/06/ladybugs011006.html We have these around here, Asian ladybugs. Natural cures http://www.bugspray.com/articles98/ladybugs.html |

We see them in the home around spring in Texas, but they aren't the Asian variety, and they aren't in droves either...just the occasional ladybug here and there...especially wherever there is water, like bathrooms and kitchens.

Yep.I have a relative in Virginia who send 'em to me yearly.
I think these are the convergent?kind that feed on those nasty aphids who try to spoil my gardens.never found them lolling about inside the house munching the arras.

I've noticed that in the fall, Carpenter Peak, the conclusion of a nice hiking trail in the foothills outside Denver, is covered with ladybugs.

I haven't really noticed any this year. Usually, they are all over the house.

Well, I will be a millionaire!
Are they wanted dead or alive? We never kill them... we just tolerate them until they are gone. They usually perish pretty fast anyway. |

Yes, thats them! They look like lady bugs, but more like an orange color than red.

I've got a few of them, but not a problem. What I do get is stink bugs, which are also an Asian invader and have absolutely no redeeming qualities.

Same thing happens here every so often. Hundreds on the walls up near the ceiling. No idea how they get in here. My Aunt used to suck them up in the vacuum...
Another bug we get in the house frequently is a mole cricket. There are many down in the crawl space and once in a while, they get into the house. Speaking of infestations, one year we had a Cicada explosion. Not the big fat ones you see most of the time but a little smaller. They were everywhere! The ground almost looked like it was moving because of the numbers of those things moving across the grass looking for a vertical surface to climb and shed their outer skin. When they got to full strength, the noise was incredible, like something from a sci-fi movie.
