The yellow car looks like nothing I have ever seen, not any opel I have seen and it looks like american style wheels, my guess is its aussie.....HOlden, maybe?

Well i thought it was valiant, but wont argue since u seem to know ur suff.
Ok lets put some rules here
1 -no prototype or one off models.
2- if one guesses wrong they have to wait for someone else to post before taking another shot.
3- one who gets the car right is the one who has the right to post a new car for us to guess.
You can forfeit ur turn for any one else to go ahead.

Hope u like the rules, plz comment if u dont

Made by a company that once built an Avanti clone based on the last-generation Firebird and has now moved to the Mustang base. Pffft....

sixto 11-16-2008 04:51 PM

I'm surprised the folks at www.easyrods.com aren't involved in that abomination.

Right, cats-eye taillights on the Valiant. A relative of mine once owned a Valiant from that era. I remember it well. Tough car.

MaydayMike 11-16-2008 10:16 PM

How about this one?

If you're thinking beetle kit car there is nearly no rear overhang, so that seems unlikely....it does look like vw 411 (?) front lights though.

MaydayMike 11-17-2008 08:01 AM

Its NOT a kit, and it's all steel!

This one is fairly difficult as the body style, greenhouse and tail lights mimic many European cars of the '50,s

Not produced on this side of the pond.

TheDon 11-17-2008 12:33 PM

Now you're further away.

TheDon 11-17-2008 12:37 PM

ok so its not american and its not italian. but it is from europe and follows popular styline cues of 1950's european cars

its not a Renault, its not a ferrari, its not a nash, its not a triumph

im going to give up and see what it is later

I'm a bit stuck on the coachbuilder - seems a little too delicate for Ghia - too prosaic for Zagato - I'm betting Pininfarina, but can't rule out Bertone or Touring. The coachwork badge on the fender is just unclear enough to be of little help. Chassis? Rather long wheelbase and overhang and apparently a fairly long engine compartment. Carleton said "Not produced on this side of the pond.", but Carleton is so damned inscrutable at times that I can't rule out an American chassis built in Italy, France or Spain. Left-hand drive, which works against my original thought of a Jaguar chassis base. Tires don't seem to be meaty enough to prop up a 700 lb.Chrysler Hemi, and the styling seems to be too old for 1955+ small block Chevy power. Lancia? Pegaso? Styling seems too delicate to ever grace a Borgward chassis.
