Automotive attachment sucks...

Ok gang, I really really like my blue wagon. Put tons of time an effort into making it the way I like it. Stereo, suspension, wheels, motors, trannies, etc.

I found a reasonably cheap 500E. Its a 92 with 160k miles on it. I can swing it financially, but I have to sell the blue TE if I get the 500. I can get the 500E as a flipper, and try to make money off it, but the market has softened for these beasts, and it would make no sense to buy it, as there would be no profit, if I could turn around and sell it...

What should I do? Keep little blue, and pass on the 500? Get the 500 and sell blue?

Its tough.... Damn, I wish I didn't pull over to look at the car on the lot...

Cool Don't do it.

Keep the old blue. I know that car, and I like it a lot, and you know its history exactly and you have a lot into it. Cosmetically it's damn near perfect.

Yeah the 500E is screamin' smoking hot fun (I know I would lose my license in a week if I bought one, the way I drive, 'cause I have driven one of 'em on a test drive from a dealer across the street from RAB Mercedes, on Francisco Blvd. in San Rafael....) but you need to pass on this one. You know nothing of its condition. It coulda been beat on like the family mule for all you know.

Either wait till you can afford a mint 500E/E500 or just keep on tweaking your wagon until the day IT finally becomes your dream vehicle: an AMG 500TE.

I know you like wagons anyway. I like them myself, as you know.

Well put. I am going to look at it tomorrow, and make an offer anyways... Hopefully I do not do anything crazy and stupid.

Although Jim, I could buy this and trade you cars.... I know you want a 500E...

You still up? Can I give you a jingle?

Talk about expensive, the 500E is brutal if not taken care of and brutal when it is taken care of. Your wagon is sorted and you know/trust it so I'd keep it, plus it won't cost nearly as much to keep on the road as the 500. If you plan on flipping it, you'd better get a swinging deal because there are a lot of 500E's on the market and their prices are dropping. The $4.50 gas made a lot of people see the light.

I thought this thread was going to be about some sort of car part like a blower or something.
Getting attached to things is hard. It's always hard for me to say goodbye to an old (automotive) friend.

No... Keep the station wagon. You never know when Costco will have a big sale, or you pull up next to a Coronet that wants to run. Absurd, to even consider a 320 HP V8 compared to the loss of those other activities.

With that said. It's obvious that you know what you want/need to do here.
Hopefully you can/will say no.

Keep the wagon, this way you know what you have.
