I once longed for a 1986 560SEL (and almost bought one), but never did, but kept the name.

I have owned...

1974 240D (in 1998)
1985 380SE (in 2006)
1984 190D (in 2008)
1988 300SEL (current)

Eagle Scout class of 1994. I use the same name on all forums I'm on as well as ebay and gunbroker unless the site doesn't allow hyphens or that many characters.

Mine is after the boat I have wanted since I was like 10. I also go by Alchemist on some other forums, and when I played DF2 online all the time. I need to get another online shooter those are fun.

Cool. Yes, I liked mine, but I never got to drive it, but I did ride alot in it in the early-mid 1980s when I was a kid. I remember vividly the last time I rode in the car... it was summer of 1985. My uncle had bought it brand new for my aunt for Christmas of 1973. He sold it in 1987. Years later, in 1999 I seen a 74' 240D in the newspaper for sale and thought I would take a look. I went and looked and it turned out the be the same car. The body (the visible parts of it) were still perfect, but the engine had a bad knock and the interior was ragged. It had once been white in color.

One problem was that the mans daughter had added oil, but forgot to place the oil cap back on and blew all of the oil out. Also @ the time I did not realize that these cars were prone to undercarriage rust and this one had literally been setting in a swamp for about 5 years and two of the floors were pretty rusty. SO..... I sold it for $100 a couple of months later, which is what I gave for it, but I did keep the original white color-keyed hubcaps!

"Swamp Yankee is a colloquialism that has a variety of meanings. Generally, it refers to Yankee or WASP's (northeasterners with colonial ancestry) from rural Rhode Island and nearby eastern Connecticut and southeastern Massachusetts. The term "Yankee" connotes urbane industriousness, while the term "Swamp Yankee" signifies a more countrified, stubborn, independent and less refined subtype."

New England redneck is an oversimplification but close.
I'll be damned, is that what "yankee" means?
Botnst -- what I do, 2 vowels short of a title.

Suginami comes from Suginami-ku, one of the districts in Tokyo where I lived for several years.

My brain always says: "Shinigami" when I see your screen name even though I know it's not correct...

My screen name came from having a brief venture into small business ownership doing PM work on fleet vehicles. KarTek was the name of the business. Even now, years later, I use it on pretty much every forum that I'm a member of.
