Its like Weschester county. My friend dated a girl, whoe's parents bought her a $500k house and new Acura SUV so she could live near school.

That is a girl I either need to marry or be her boy toy. That or have her parents adopt me.

No, self-made. Commercial RE and Chinese restaurants.

Why? So you can have your Pyrrhic victory and say that while you don't have that money, your's is honestly earned and you can sleep better at night?

How is that a crime? You don't know how much his family gives to charity and it is none of our business anyway. So what if he spends his money on a nice car.
What would you do? Confiscate their property and shoot them? Tax them until they were just as poor as your example with no food or water?

While I would not buy a car like that this is, or was last time I checked, a free country and a person can buy what they want to buy.

We should be able to reap the rewards of our hard work.

Thank you.

And may I add that not all folks who can drive cars like that and live that lifestyle do.

There are plenty that do not work hard for their money, a prime example are kids like this thread started about. They have no idea what work even is, or having to save for something, or not just "swiping a magic card" and having themselves be gratified by yet another purchase. Its a whole mentality. After attending a private college, I have met my share of these individuals.

Here's a good article:

http://www.helium.com/items/1020099-is-money-the-root-of-all-evil

Nothing wrong with money itself, it is the love of money which is the downfall. And far too many have succumbed to that. Hey, isn't that why our economy just went crashing down? People wanted way too many things that they could not hope to afford, then they lost their jobs and the debt attacked them in a dark alley. That's how it goes. In this country the average credit card debt is $4200+ per adult And over $7500+ per household.

I agree, with one exception.
Debt did not attack them in a dark alley.
They were looking at it in bright, clear daylight the whole time.
They dropped their shorts and invited it to come bite them on the ass.

This thread is the perfect representation of my school. Kids with no work ethic, no concept of true value, and will end up in the corporate world because they don't know what else to do. Half the girls are getting the "Mrs." degree and don't give a rat's ass about their education or future. That takes care of half the guys who convince the girls they are mr. right for a weekend, drink their souls away and don't show up to Monday morning classes. All filthy rich, never had to worry about bills, don't give a second thought to the 150k their parents are spending on their education, nor the normal middle-class students who work their way through - "oh you have a job? That sucks, quit it and come party!". Only applies to undergrads, thank goodness.
