Ebay rant

First of all it takes them hours to put up a listing. They say it is due to "indexing" ??? WTF? Don't they have farms of servers some place?

I go to list a text book. I figure since school is starting I will set the shipping for flat rate Priority Mail, and I will be real nice and just charge the actual cost (4.99) for a flat rate envelope. So I hit "finish" and it comes back and says that the max I can charge for shipping "for that type of item" is 4.00 ! WTF???

Meanwhile there is a guy in New Jersey charging 175.00 shipping for UPS Ground for a TV that weighs 29#. What are they doing about that? NOTHING.
Are these guys complete morons? Is there any alternative to Ebay yet? How f'ng stupid are they????

Books are usually small and light. A TV can be anything from a 7" LCD to a 60" rear projection.

eBay is kinda slimy.....they take a big cut on sales and charge a lot for listings. Its not the eBay it was when I joined 10 years ago. I feel old saying that.

They're saving money on having real-time capable systems by using less systems at higher load, so it goes through and "re-indexes" every couple hours. The listing is generated right away, but you won't see it until the servers re-generate the listing pages and search index.
