I like Al Franken. Many people don't know the he graduated from Harvard with honors. He has been in politics for 30 years. so it isn't so far fetched that he ran for political office. I am an Al Franken fan from the SNL days.

Franken used to give the 'color commentary' on the State of the Union Address for Comedy Central. You could tell then he knew a lot about politics.

I predect he will be seated and that rating for CSPAN will greately improve when he is slated to speak.

He will also have a great deal of freedom when he is speaking since it really will not matter to him if he is re-elected. You hear that out of Politicians a lot but I have never known one that really meant it.

Steals from kids, can't cut it on talk radio because facts always seem to put him in a tizzy just like all the other lib talk show hosts who dread Ann Coulter and people like her.
Pushing for the fairness doctrine in an effort to destroy (conservative) talk radio because liberal talk radio has no substance other than foul language and blinding love for all that is liberal.

At least conservatives will let you know when their leaders are being azzholes.

Stuart Smalley....... what a homo.

Applause, Applause!

Upon experience, I found it noteworthy that critisism of Israel is not very popular in this country. Aka not making a lot of friends this way .

If you can't get enough advertisers to pay to keep you on the air...legislate your competition off and have the taxpayers subsidize your own offerings...

If he was fairly elected, then he should be seated.
It is odd how many of the decisions of the election board went his way. It will be fun to watch the process in the courts.

I voted for him. I would have voted for anyone against Coleman though. Coleman is a typical sleeze-bag politician. I'll give you an example. When the election first happened and it was close, Coleman was infront and stated that "If I were in Al's shoes I would waive my right to a recount for the people of MN". Now, the tide has turned and what is Norm doing? He is bringing everything he can to the courts. You can't trust him any further than you can throw him.

My take on why the vote got switched was there were a bunch of votes not counted in a couple precincts for various reasons. All in all it was only a 400 votes swing. At first Norm was ahead by about 200, now Al is ahead by 200. Pretty small percent swing considering all the votes that were cast.

You guys don't realize how bad this race was. The attack ads started back in June, waaaaaaay before any Presidential ads were on. And of course, there is a 2 month recount, and now a court battle. This damn things is never going to end.

Hmm.... I had that same feeling back in 2000 during the Florida re-count. Karma!

First it was Jesse "The Body" Ventura...

Now, it appears, it will be Al "I'm OK" Franken...

I hear that state's considering changing the license plates from "Land of 10,000 Lakes" to "Land of 10,000 Flakes" - eh?

Actually, it was the Jesse Ventura candidate who put Franken in the Senate, it was a three way race, between the GOP, the Dems and the Flakes. I think the real core problem with this mess is that unlike most states, MN doesn't provide for a run off election if one candidate does not receive over 50 percent of the votes. A runoff between Franken and Coleman would have settled the thing to everyone's satisfaction. In the end tho, I doubt that the MN voters will be unhappy, because 2/3's of them voted for someone other than Coleman, so most of them didn't want the guy as their senator anyway.

No, if Barkely (who ran under the same party as Jesse was) did not run or you could not vote for him, Franken wins in a landslide. Most of the independant votes go to Franken, not Coleman. So if Coleman ends up in office (slim to none chance, thankfully) it will be Jesse's candidate that put him there.

Look at these totals-
Franken, with 1,212,431 votes, and Coleman, with 1,212,206 votes.

225 votes seperate them with 2.9 million votes cast on that day. Truly staggering. I believe Barkely had somewhere around 20% of the votes.
