We had a largish St. Patrick's Day parade in my town on Saturday. It was so festive and beautiful...for 30 seconds around 12:05 PM. Around 4 PM to about 1 AM, drunks are staggering around the downtown, jay-walking, fighting, vomiting...DUI arrests are the order of the day, and someone invariably careens down the local expressway and rolls their '92 Buick Century onto its roof. You don't see any such misbehavior on Columbus Day...

It’s time to pay homage to Patricius the Celtic slave. As the rest of the world was being laid to waste by the heathen Germanic tribes, a former slave was busy founding the monastic movement. Scots always welcome as long as no religious discussions are raised and they bring whisky but no food. Welsh are invited under Scots rules- bring Stout or blood sausage.
