I'm going to be binge drinking, cussing and fighting. There's a little Irish in all of us.

We had a largish St. Patrick's Day parade in my town on Saturday. It was so festive and beautiful...for 30 seconds around 12:05 PM. Around 4 PM to about 1 AM, drunks are staggering around the downtown, jay-walking, fighting, vomiting...DUI arrests are the order of the day, and someone invariably careens down the local expressway and rolls their '92 Buick Century onto its roof. You don't see any such misbehavior on Columbus Day...

Here is the invitation I had to my party on Sat:
St. Patrick’s Day Celebration At Bamboo McCue’s In Wellington It’s time to pay homage to Patricius the Celtic slave. As the rest of the world was being laid to waste by the heathen Germanic tribes, a former slave was busy founding the monastic movement. They burned books as he copied the texts. They destroyed the knowledge compiled by civilization, he remembered it. They drank, he did not. Okay, okay even he was not perfect. Come over to the McCue household and raise a glass to him and those that descended from him, even if you are one of the heathens. The house backs onto the old golf course. Bring kids- I have three boys. We’ll have lots of food and drinks. It’s a gathering of family and good people* Same rules as last year apply *Starts as early as 4:30. Lasts till after dark or you pass out: bring someone to drive you home, or bring a blanket so the ants don‘t bite your face. British persons are allowed if they renounce the queen for the day- they are however banned from bringing any drink. Scots always welcome as long as no religious discussions are raised and they bring whisky but no food. Welsh are invited under Scots rules- bring Stout or blood sausage. Isle of Man citizens must bring Ale or mutton. No fighting unless we form a ring and the house makes a %. Head west on XXXXXXX blvd past XXXX. After the “XXXXX” signs... Continue on XXXXX.... It was a great day and we all had a good time. While there was lively discussion, we never had to form a ring... Last edited by MTUpower; 03-17-2009 at 08:07 PM. |
