Hattie, you're in the main target group for H1N1. That is what makes it different from seasonal flu, and also why there is the media focus and vaccination program.

Whereas a healthy young adult can shake off a bout of the regular flu, the same healthy young adults are falling very ill - and dying - due to H1N1 infection.

'Why' is still unknown, but the virus can cause intense respiratory distress and ultimately death. Two healthy young teenagers have died in the past week here in Ontario. This normally wouldn't happen with the regular flu.

While it is true most people will still fight off H1N1, there is a small percentage of risk. Given that this risk can be fatal, the vaccine is worth taking, IMO.

It is thought that seniors have greater resistance to H1N1 due to cell mediated immunity (as opposed to antibody related immunity, or humoral immunity) from years of previous exposure to similar viruses.

Can you prevent a car crash with a simple vaccine?

I'll probably shut up now, don't think I am making progress here.

Meh I'm not worried. A lot of other things will probably get me before the flu.

There is no point in me getting the vaccine as I just got over the swine. I do worry about my daughter in the dorms at Dartmouth , they have a pretty high infection level. I also worry that the vaccine was probably rushed to market without any real testing, so I am reminding her to use hand sanitizer like she owns stock in the company (she does ), get extra rest and drink ALOT of water.

70-90% of the swine flu problem is the media... it is not a big deal, you are just contagious for a bit longer.

Mankind has survived but a passel of people in their older years didn't. I'm a fairly healthy 57 but 10 years from now, I'll be much more inclined to get a flu shot every year.

There is more mercury in a can of tuna than in a vaccine (which averages 5-50 micrograms). Have people stopped buying tuna?
I've come around to this POV myself. The evidence supports it and there are plenty of other chemical infestations in the human body that might have an effect in autism.
