I used to sell real estate with Re/Max. I decided pretty quickly that sales are not for me, for a variety of reasons. Now I build the product I used to sell. Although I still find myself selling them, FSBO. Go figure guess I learned something.

I have talked to the people at Gra Bar a couple of times about working for them.

I sell real estate in small parcels, 42 inches wide by 9 feet, with the right to go as deep as 7'4"...cemetery plots.

I also write preplanned and prepaid funeral plans. Business is decent, nothing to get excited about. Thank God lots of conservative midwesterners still like copper caskets, stainless steel Wilbert vaults and nice bronze and granite grave markers.

How is the death business out your way? I have a good friend that runs a big funeral home here who says it's been quiet. People still die, where do the customers go? Do they call around to find the cheapest burial? Or is it probably the pre-planning that's hit a lull?

I didn't realize you had quit selling real estate, Hattie. What did you not like about it? Periodically, I think about it, ut so far I have not done anything about it.

My dad always says "When I die, just dig a hole in the backyard and throw me in it!"

Whoa, if you do it, let me know.

I order alot of networking equipment, conduit, panels, etc from them.

A few Cisco components will easily be over $6k.

I used to do on the road sales for credit card processing.

Talking to various small business owners trying to save them money on their rates.

It was fine and I did good but every so often I would mistakingly get an appointment set with an existing customer...sometimes it was fine, but other times it was the last place I wanted to be

(Because some other As$h^& at my company blatantly lied to them and they decided to take their anger out on me)

Now I mostly mine the data thats used to set the appointments, only now its nationwide. I made sure that I don't have a phone on my desk so I don't have to deal with angry customers...

I've been approached by several of those companies, but have no idea what working for them would be like. Irate customers never borrowed me. If they're coplaining to ME about my company, I figure they are giving m the chance to keep their business. It's when they start compaining about my company to my COMPETITORS that worries me. If that happens, I may not have the chance to fix the problems.

I'm a headhunter and I sell accountants. Business is not great. It is much more challenging now that it has been in the 11 years I've been doing it. I just closed my first piece of business this year. Luckily I had a very strong autumn/winter season in 2008, or else I'd have been in real trouble right now.
