35 MPH Open-air Contraptions

This is what the world's largest corporation has been reduced to? Oy vay!

GM sees an electric, 2-wheel future

How on earth does a person warm up to an ugly contraption?
Two wheels? Only a GM committee or the government could re-invent the motorcycle into something so repulsive & unappealing.
I thought Dean Kamen was smarter than this.

I blame Steve Jobs et al for billing what essentially is a toy for mall cops and Steve Wozniaks of the world as revolutionary.

The problem with Segways is that they turn normal humans into Dorks when they climb on board one. It's elementary mathematics:

Two wheels in line == cool.
Two wheels beside each other == dork.

looks like an encapsulated segway.... Gm needs to think about building something that will sell.

GM is not in the business of selling things anymore. All they need to do in todays world is impress el presidente and the money will continue to come their way. GM has more in common with a child waiting for his allowance then it dose with Ford, or MB, or any other automaker.

That looks like a totally desparate idea to me. Can you imagine what that would look like after a delivery truck ran into it?!

When the government tells you what to build, you end up making products no one wants. The next step is for the government to start telling us what we can and cannot buy, that way they can sell what they built that no one wanted in the first place.

Slippery slope.

Instead of being "The USA," we could be called "The USSR."

Can't you pictures those things jostling for position with New York taxi's?

GM certainly wouldn't have to pay out much in warranty, as they would all be getting run over and crushed.

WTF!? I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I saw that thing. I don't see it selling many copies.

OTOH, I was watching Top Gear on a buddy's computer the other day (slow drill weekend) and they showed a VW Polo diesel. Nice looking, plenty of useable space and something over 70 mpg. Anybody who sold something like that in this country at a reasonable price would make a lot of money.
