I'd think that the M119 could match the 617 in highway MPG's......the M103 comes close, and its turning nearly the same RPM's....the M119 would be running a lot lower RPM's....

My CD gets a steady 25 MPG in whatever mix of city / hwy driving I seem to do. The 400E does about 16 in the city and 23 at a steady 75 MPH.

Considering that the two cars have traveled a combined total of well over 400,000 miles, I think that is pretty good economy!

My commute is technically "highway" as long as I do the drive at appropriate times. Those of you who have experienced Atlanta rush hour traffic know that it is surpassed in mayhem only by Los Angeles and Washington, DC. If I am foolish enough to drive home during peak rush hour(s), my "highway" drive can quickly deteriorate into an idling contest.

Thats how my drive usualy is. I thought for sure my mileage for this tank would be way down since I was in gridlock on the highway and at school for a good chunk of it. New Haven sucks for trying to get good mileage. If your not idleing in traffic your on the throttle before nailing the brakes.

Note "peak rush hourS.

It is bad enough that Atlanta is really only a great place to live if you live near your job. There are many positives to living here. Cost of living is one. Traffic is not.

You need to add the current miles on the truck to your sig.

There's NO WAY I'd trade my diesels for gas burners....

They NEVER break! And on the rare occasions that they do, doing the work myself is mind-numbingly simple. Used parts are also not hard to come by.

They cost me almost NOTHING to operate and drive.

Relatively cheap diesel and biodiesel, and even cheaper WVO, are all readily available around here.

The fuel mileage is nearly as good, and in many cases BETTER, than many new cars, unless you're talking about the little death-trap go-karts like Smart Cars, Scions, etc....

What's not to love?.....

Mike

Isn't that the truth. I have only been in Atlanta a handful of times, but every time has been marred by traffic issues. I learned after the second trip, plan to arrive two hours before you are supposed to and you stand a decent chance of being on time.

22.736 gallons of 87 @ $2.19 is $50.

So it costs me $5 more a week to drive a fuel sucking truck over the holy grail diesel Mercedes.

My mileage is actualy going up in the truck, I'm going to break 18 this week.
Do they make cold air or short ram intakes for your truck? That should get you a couple more mpg's.

Well, you barely have any miles on your diesels, so it's hard to accept that your experience represents the norm.

Look at the new VW Jetta. If I had a new diesel Jetta, my only hope for economic salvation would be that a fair number of saps in the used car market would pay a huge premium for such a car when I became disgusted and traded it in on another big SUV.
Well, I don't know what to tell you: Here in Detroit, Diesel prices vary from 1.84- 2.19 and gas from 1.94-2.35. My 240D is very happy
