Odd, I heard about it and I also recall hearing that they turned out to be fakes.

You do understand that they HAD to turn out to be fakes. Can you imagine the consequences for the dollar if they wound up being real and some country was trying to dump them?

I heard the fakes were so bad, that they had a picture of the space shuttle on the back, instead of the Saturn V rocket.

Bearer Bonds went away before the shuttle program.
