My son needs a place to stay in Europe!!!

It's now Friday, and my son (26) is stuck in Venice alone (we are from N.Y., USA...). He left the friends he was traveling with due to some 'issues' (they turned out to be quite difficult). If anyone has any leads, friends, places to recommend for him to stay or see, it would be appreciated. He was thinking of two more days in Italy, then to France and then Ireland. Any leads/ friends would be great.
PS...he is a great kid, very honest and trustworthy. Unfortunately, he's not into cars!

There's tons of inexpensive hostels out there, why doesn't he stay at one of those?

I'd recommend he stay at a hotel. There are hotels in Venice, aren't there? What kind of 'issues' does he have?

Get on a train, sleep until he reaches Paris.

Sounds like "Dad" might not be willing to foot the bill for a hotel.

If he is, I'd suggest looking on Expedia and choosing a moderately priced room.

I've found and booked inexpensive hostels all over Europe several times through this online service . http://www.hostelworld.com/
There are rooms in most major cities for $10-20 a night.. it's prime vacation time now though so I don't know about availability but you can try.

Go hostel - it's cheap! Yes, they have them in Venice.

He's in a hotel now. HE doesn't have the issues, the two people he was traveling with do. They have been gone for a month now and the other two only want to do museums and architecture. My son wants to get off the beaten path, see culture and 'people'. His two friends would rather sit in an hotel rather than walk through a city, chatting and exploring.
I thought that if someone said "Hey, my family is there, they will show him around", that would be so cool... Just using the internet to my/ his advantage.

I'd check the train timetables and get an overnight train to somewhere. If he has the money for it, pay the supplement for a couchette. Wake up in Amsterdam, Paris, where ever. When he gets there most stations have an info place that can help him get a cheap hotel.

If he is going to travel he needs to get a youth hostel card.

Once he gets to Paris, he can get a room at the American Center for Students and Artists, 262 Boulevard Raspail; it's not luxurious but clean, cheap and safe. And no, lol, I don't have the phone number with me.

Or just check out "auberges de la jeunesse" aka youth hostels.

This guy is 26

... he is no "youth". Shift for yourself or come home. Dear old dad is not helping by wiping his butt for him.

Good point. Part of an adventure is making it YOUR OWN adventure. I know a few people who worked their way through Europe for several months taking odd jobs and immersing themselves in the culture, and there were no regrets. If he wants to find new travel companions, hostel is the way to go.
