Yesterday Jun 26 My Wife Took The Citizenship Oath

6 Months ago my Wife of 15 years decided to be come a US Citizen (she is from the Philippines).
Yesterday Jun 26 her Citizenship was finalized with her taking the Oath
The ceremony was held at the LA Sports arena attended by over 2000 other people to be sworn in and about 3 times as many family members. Believe it or not it was also considered a Court Room being considered a District Court.
Some of the highlights for me were that there was about 30 US Armed Forces members being sworn in as well as many new citizens who were apparently Muslims. The one Lady wore clothing that only exposed here hands and there was 1 inch wide by 8 inch long slit for here Eyes and small Glasses.
Several of the Army guys were from my Division the 1st Armored Division.
The District Court Judge spoke several times admonishing what the meaning of the Oath.
He also spoke of how the US welcomes immigrants and gave the Irish during the Potato Famine as one of his examples. When large numbers of Irish started arriving history shows they were not welcomed here.
The Judge seems not to have had a good grasp of history as our country and the people have always had sort of a “Love Hate” relationship for immigrants.
We seem to love immigrants when they trickle into the country from various parts of the world but hate it when a horde of them arrive within a short period of time.
Despite the “Welcome” idea no matter where immigrants come from most have to work to gain our respect.
