Wow!

Those are terrific planes. The next step must be predator style cameras and long distance radios. That B29 looked big enough for a real pilot.

No they dont. They actually burn Kerosene and can burn real jet fuel although no real need to pay the extra. I fly model planes and have had a chance to fly a plane with a gas turbine engine and let me tell you, they are fast. The one I flew was a buddies and his could reach speeds of 180+. It kinda hard to fly at that speed as I am not used to it. My planes top speed it about 80 or 90mph. Real fun hobbie, and great videos.

I have seen some of the engines they make for them. Neat stuff, pretty much a big motor scaled down.

I have a few RC airplanes and have been in the hobby since the late 80's. The turbine Jets were appearing in the early to mid 90's. Back then there were a few different fuel sources, kerosene, propane and white gas ( I think). The engines have advanced since then. It used to be you had to use an external starter. The duct fan jets used to ba about 160 mph to about 180 mph. I hear the turbine jets are capable of 480 mph. The AMA limits them to roughly 200 mph at their contest. Trust me at 160 mph, blink and you've just about missed it. The cost of the turbine engines are roughly $2500 to $3000 each. There was a model of the Concord at the Toledo show probably 6-8 years ago. It had four engines in it. It was roughly 25 ft wingspan and maybe 30 ft. in length.
I do have a few people I know who fly scale competition. A lot of time talent and money in them types of airplanes. I just reflew my trainer last week. Its probably been eight years sine I last flew. It was fun, and I hope to get some of my other sports planes back in the air.

Yeah, maybe the JATO rocket is a better deal.
