She resigned her position so she could be in a better position to help the state of Alaska. Of course, some could argue that the resignation in and of itself is more than sufficient assistance...

Politics aside, she and her family have been going through hell. And a lot of Alaskans thought they were doing the right thing when they voted for her as governor.

She has had a tough time with the media. She just wasn't ready to be put in such a huge spotlight, I think she may have bit off more than she can chew. I don't like her political viewpoints one bit, and think she severely lacks the judgment required for a huge position like VP (or even governor for that matter), but media have been relentless with their criticism. Who cares about her new granddaughter...Who cares about her ability to wear waders and fish....
