Ferrari News: New Car, Old Driver

458 Italia. The 458 Italia weighs in at 3,046 pounds, a feathery mass pitted against the car’s direct-injection 4.5-liter V8 (thus name 458), seven-speed clutchless manual transmission and Ferrari’s latest driving electro-dynamics, including systems-integrated versions of E-Diff and F-Trac, which help the car generate an astounding 32% more longitudinal acceleration out of corners.

Schumi Gets Massa's Ride

Ferrari and Schumacher, 40, confirmed speculation that he would temporarily replace driver Felipe Massa, who was seriously injured during qualifying for last weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix.

Oh, and BMW dropped their F1 involvement.

Call me old fashion but I still want a 6spd stick with a clutch. Sure its not as fast but I don't care, I don't plan on racing Schumacher. I want to have fun with such a car, and I can do that best with a proper stick.

IMHO if I could have any modern F car it would be the F40, to me thats the ultimate.

I don't want carpet, door handles, or even an exhuast...if I wanted a fast luxury car I'd buy a CL65 AMG. I want a balls out race car that will scare the crap out of me.

Have I Got the Car For You!

Okay, it's a replica, but it's a really good replica!

Sort of reminds me of the original Speed Racer Mach V

Don't get me going, nothing is better than a stack of Weber carbs on a nice red head V12. Or a Jag I6, OMFG the old Jag engines are amazing.

Agreed.. well on the transmission part anyways...much more fun than clicking a stupid paddle on the steering wheel. Carpet doesn't add too much weight, it's all the luxury items and nice interior parts and airbags and power everything that adds up.

Don't knock it til you tried it once you go paddle there is no turning back also there are talking about a clutchless manual so you can have you stick and eat it to. The thing I like most about paddles is you can keep the car in the power band more especially when cornering, plus with that much power the only winner with a clutch would be the Ferrari service department.

Keep in mind that there is a clutch in the F1 cars. On the consumer side, they have to be replaced every 25,000 or so. Mine was replaced just before I bought the car which was a big selling point for me.

I used to have a 360. and yes that would be a huge selling point since they do wear out especially the early Maser's. The trick is to sell before you pay while the car is still in demand.

Paddle? Did you say, "paddle" or pedal?
