I think it's really sad for this woman. Even if a test should reveal she has some kind of hermaphroditic condition, it could certainly have been something she and her family never knew about. And she very well might just be a woman with masculine features. Good for her for continuing to pursue her goals in the face of constant doubt and sometimes cruel mocking. What do you want her to do, hide away in a closet because you find her odd-looking? If another athlete or coach wanted to quietly question her gender to an official, I can understand that from a point of athletic fairness, i.e., they want to confirm the playing field is equal. But why the ridicule? Nothing wrong with occasional water-cooler joke, but draw the line a little, eh?
