Yes and your disdain on wealth is also evident. OF course it isn't because you aren't there or even close. IF you could attain it and decide it isn't good for you and give it up, I'll admit you might have a point. Till then, it sounds like "sour grapes"

What a coincidence. Green eyes on a proverbial green eyed monster.

Sour grapes is an expression originating from the Aesop Fable The Fox and the Grapes. It always refers to an unattainable goal and human reaction to it. It can mean to deny desire for the unattainable item. More often, it refers to the nature of humans to rationalize why they wouldn't want it anyway. The phrase has come to be synonymous with bitterness in most modern contexts.

For it to be "sour grapes" wouldn't the person have to have NOT attained something he wanted? We don't know if the poster did if fact achieve his goal. I thought the post sounded more like "disgust" than "envy" The English idiom "sour grapes" - derived from this fable - refers to:
  • the false denial of desire for something sought but not acquired
  • the denigration and feigning of disdain for that which one could not attain

I'll bet money that link DIDN'T and neither did his father. Hence the disgust. Like I said, if he had attained it and given it away to lead a simpler life, I would respect his comment. However, such a comment from someone who has not attained it sounds like sour grapes to me. That is, unless you believe that I could have been famous and wealthy but decided to lead a simpler life because I would lose my friends and be surrounded by sycophants.

Thanks.

My comment was a case of pointing out the obvious.

Akilm was projecting. Sour grapes is evidently the leading player in his life, with deflection being his only backup plan. Anyone surprised by that?

In your life, maybe. I have things I want to achieve but cannot but I don't run them down.
