I've downloaded music with it during the last 8 months. Now all of a sudden, in search mode, it does nothing. When opening the program, an upgrade window appears but I can't imagine an upgrade would automatically delete the function of the older version. What the flock, over?

You will need some kind of Bit Torrent engine as well, but they are hundreds of them available for free download.
