Costco did that several years ago. The cost for funerals is un-fukin-believable! Burial has become so expensive that about 70% now go for cremation.

On the off chance that I do die anyhow, I plan on having my friends just throw me into a row boat full of gasoline, light me up, and push me off for a nice Viking sort of an affair . . .

I initially thought about this as well, only in my '87 22' Checkmate Starflite, but I can't die until I get the engine problems sorted out.

A friend of mine opened a casket store here in town several years back, I thought it wasn't a good idea. He was in business for only 6 months. I saw him a few months after he closed his casket store and said to him that I was sorry that his business failed, he said don't feel bad. he told me that Funeral Homes within 30 miles of his store banded together and bought him out. He made $500,000 profit. I checked his store out while it was open and you could buy a nice oak casket for about $800.

I'd be game for that.

When my grandfather died we cremated him and burried him in LIS at one of his favorite spots. I still have the GPS cordinates written down somewhere.

Initially, I was considering putting The Don on retainer to build a rocket to launch my ashes into the upper atmosphere. I was going to have Mistress, Powerpig, and Johnhef throw a big GTG and launch me.

When my mother and father died, I told the guy at the fneral home that I was nice to my parents while they were alive and didn't have any guilt to assauge, so just give me the least expensive box in the place. Believe me, there were NO cheap ones!

Both the MIL and FIL died this past year and both went the "toast and posthole" route...

They're within inches of each other...in about a 2' x 2' plot...and about 6' down...at least, that's what we were told. Took pictures of the location for the ex...not that she's going to be heading down to Camp Butler anytime soon...

That's great, "toast and posthole!" I'll have to remember that.
