Good point. That was redundant, wasn't it? Admittedly, I think we actually enjoy being disgruntled ... it's like a part of our identity. I could deal with being quasigruntled, though.

I handed out steaks, pork chops and ribs. I still have some left, do you want them?

But it was all for the better. Encouraging.
I noticed the same thing, I think please and thank you are making a comeback.

Perfect weather this weekend...convertibles and motorcycles were out in full force!

Took kid to soccer practice in the morning, then let her go to Six Flags that night with friends.

Picked them up that night (haunted house freaked them out) then dropped off kid to another party...then went to one myself, gave out candy and practiced making apple martinis for others at the party.

Got up early the next morning, set several hundred of my clocks back one hour, then went off to soccer game where my kid's team laid a massive beating to the opposing team! Time left to head to church and witness a friend's baptism. Then off to their house for grub.

A good weekend!

I scared a few kids, but gave them candy as a consolation prize.

My oldest son is now officially "too cool" for us so he went off with some friends leaving the daughter and the my two youngest boys. We had big plans with friends for beer, sangria and Hot Toddies in the wagon while the kiddies ran rampant but sickness hit all of our families, including my wife, so it was just us.

We just put a basket out on the porch with a note to "Please Take One". We started doing that several years ago since we bring all of the kids around and aren't home. We're just south of the city and a lot of city-folk bring their kids to the 'burbs for trick-or-treating (can't really blame them), I figured the first car-load that showed up would clean us right out. Didn't happen then and didn't happen this year, still had a couple handfuls of pieces left when we go back to the house around 7:30. We actually came across four other houses around the 'hood that did that this year.

I think the number of kids overall was down again this year but it seemed like there were a lot more little kids so we're probably poised for an upswing. The first year we moved in we had a 140 kids, 110 the next year, and 80 the last year we were home handing out candy. My mother was sick this year too and she always keeps track at her house.

It did start raining about 8:00 so that probably cut down on a lot of the older kids that usually come around then.

At 8:00 the lights went out and I blew out the candles out in the Jack O'Lanterns. After that I settled into the recliner for a little Pro Bull Riding, some Bud Lights (didn't have any PBR's) and too much candy and no one bothered me.

Took my son out around the block. We went to maybe 15 houses and his bag was already plump full. Then his mother came and picked him up and they went out around her house. The wife and I then went to the Gophers/Michigan State game. It was my first time seeing the Gopher's new stadium on campus. It was really, really nice. It was a bit cold but we dressed warm (the flask helped as well ) and it was a great game which the Gophers won. Quite fun to see all the college kids dressed up and being rowdy. College is a fun time. All in all it was a fun night.

I took some Red Hots and percoset, let'em soak in some Jack Daniels. Suitably prepared I went to the new house and drained the boiler and later myself....

I was in Austin with friends being a designated driver. MY friends got sloppy drunk while watching some DJ named Ana Sia. I pulled over once for a vomiting episode. Luckily it didnt happen in my car. Got home at 4am. SUnday I got an ultimatum from the parents. Come home at a reasonable hour or move out. Still deciding on what to do about that...

Coulda sworn I posted this before leaving home this morning.......

Daylight hours were spent at good friend Sepha's Reformation Faire (he's a Lutheran minister). After dark was spent at Joanie's cafe. Much fun and merriment was had by all.

My personal favorite part of the evening was Darling Wife as Miss Murr, the lovely 1940's vintage cabaret dancer:

Call up the friends YOU SAVED, have them thank you in front of your parents, concerning you being the DD, then let the parents let THAT sink in...

Check in with them about the "early morning hours-return" scenario later.

I'm assuming you weren't too loud when YOU got home...eh?

IF my kid had done something like that, I would have thought twice about even making a comment on that order. But my kid was in it for himself only...you sound like the only voice of responsibility there...just make sure Mom & Dad know exactly what went on...if they're reasonable, they'll make amends...
