Kind of embarrassing

I was driving along HWY 12 in Santa Rosa yesterday afternoon doing about 60-65 and suddenly a Smart Car passed me doing at least 10-15 mph faster than me. I didn't know those things could go that fast.

I've seem them moving right along at 80+. I keep threatening that I'm going to buy one for my daughter when she gets her license. I don't think that's going to fly with either her or my wife; I'll end up having to buy an entire car, not just half.

I don't know but those things just don't look that stable to be going that fast. The guy changed lanes and with such a short wheel base the change in direction happened so fast that it looked like it could flip to say nothing about how it looks like if you hit the brakes hard it could roll over frontwards.

I've ridden motorcycles with shorter wheelbases a lot faster than that. I think most of the weight is pretty low in the car.

I guess if you are used to bikes it would seem ok. I found out many years ago that bikes and I did not get along that well so I gave up on them.

You sit pretty high in those so maybe you don't notice the speed as much. I find that a car feels like its going faster the lower the seating position. But just because it FEELS safe, doesn't mean that it IS safe.

Bike are fun, "cheap thrills" compared to buying cars with comperable performance. A bike is probably safer than a tiny car because it's more maneuverable.

For me they are not safer, spent to much time going off the side of the road. I just didn't know when to back off I guess.
