Jeep Cherokee

I just bought a 1996 Jeep Cherokee, so my MB 280E can garage queen through the winter. Does anyone know where I can find a service manual CD for the '96 Cherokee?

I had a 91 for 12 years. They don't need service, the I-6 anyway. Change the oil. Air in tries. Mine ate a few water pumps but I had the belt too tight. I got good at changing them.

Emmerich, I know what you mean. It seems that every Cherokee I inquired about, before finding mine, had gone thru a water pump change, so I expect I get to have the same experience sooner or later.

MS Fowler, thanks for the tip about the Jeep forum. I've already posted a couple of questions. Since I don't even have the owner's manual, I'll be there a lot. I noticed you're there too.

I did sell a ton of Jeep water pumps when I was in the parts business. The later transmissions were kinda crappy, but mostly plagued the grand cherokees. A well cared for cherokee will run for a long time--the 4.0 I6 and 2.5 I4 are excellent engines if maintained.

Good to hear!
By little brother just bought a 2.5L 4wd manual Cherokee (Puke green)

He got 25mpg driving it home with old fluids in everything. After an oil/coolant/differentials/plugs change I can't wait to see what it gets...

I have a company Jeep Cherokee. The "professional" mechanic said it needed a new engine. I doubted than. Turns out it had a clogged exhaust/ cat. Far cheaper than a replacement engine.
That web site provided me enough help to eliminate the fuel system.
Lots of posts.

I read that as, eliminate the fuel system as the cause of the engine problems.

I figured it was something like that , but on a slow New Years Day it gave me a chuckle.
