Woah, Big differences, from one to the other. I checked them out online and apparently the 747, has huge leg room too. If I gave a damn about goin green, I suppose I might consider something else, since I could give a damn less about this god forsaken mud-ball called Earth, the 747 still takes the cake. I guess that must be why it's been numero uno, for so many years. It even has better leg & stretch room than the Concord ever had to offer. Granted, it isn't as fast, but it outlasted the Concord, in the long run, which says a hell of a lot for it, on many levels. 747 all the way baby yeahh!!!

I don't know about "awesome," I used to fly on one on a semi-weekly basis because my route was the first leg of an international flight for united. It worked fine, I always got there; just like taking the bus (with bad food).

I beg to differ with you.

I have flown on many 747-400's and 777's (which was made for United), and the 747-400 is bigger in every dimension, except for the wingspan, which i believe is the same. The 747-400 has 10 seats across in the main cabin, the 777 has 9 seats.

The 777 is about the same class as the 747-300.

Both are fantastic airplanes: wide, long, and quiet.

For my money, I'd take the 747-400 anyday.

When I fly overseas, I only fly first or business class.

747 Piano Bar

I recall flying in a 747 in the late seventies ( I think 1979) and The had a piano and bar in upper section.

Can you even imagine that today?

I'm lucky the company will pay for business class on overseas flights, and sometimes I upgrade to first class using points.

If I had to spend my own money, I'd be sitting at the back of the bus near the galley.

I wonder if increasing the window size like that affects the structural integrity of the fuselage at all.

What I read in the past for the main reasons for the composite construction fuselage is that it provides the ability to have bigger windows and to be able to have higher humidity in the cabin for better passenger comfort of which cannot be achieved with the regular alloy fuselage because with higher humidity comes corrosion. The lighter weight factor is also there, but I read not much.

A380 is a wonderful plane,in regards to the passengers comfort,I travel quite a bit to Europe on the A380's,with the bathrooms and the waiting areas ,located downstairs from pass area, unbeatable, one can strech his legs without walking thru the seating area...you have a large space downstairs, where ,at least the Lufthansa crew, has cookies and coffee,TV screens, you can walk around, wait, without bothering anybody, that makes a transatlantic flight a lot shorter, compared with being stuck in a seat, any class...

I fly quite a bit. Mostly Europe, but also Asia and Australia, and of course domestic. I have flown the 777 the most, but like the 747 the best. Especially when sitting upstairs (Cathay) or in 1st class (Qantas). It's weird seeing a wall in front of you rather than a cockpit door.
