Firestone...Help
Has anyone here ever had to replace Muffler Bearings, on a 123? The guy at Firestone told me I was low on Blinker Fluid, my muffler bearings were shot (both the inners, and the outers)and that the flux capacitor on my car needs elbow grease..
Can anyone tell me if it sounds like he was attempting to screw me out of money? My car looks in great shape, and doesn't drive bad either. How is it possible for all of these major items to be wrong with it, and me not know about it? Last time I was there, he said he changed out the muffler fluid, so how could the bearings be bad so soon? He also greased my brake pads, because he said my rotors were over heating, and they were leaking fluid..That was only two months ago when I only brought it in to have my tire air changed and flushed out, so they could install the winter air in them. This was also because I had a small vibration whenever I exceeded 190 mph. and I thought it might have been because of worn out tire air. How do all these things go so bad, so quickly?

I bought a bearing set from these guys: http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=10
After almost 700,000 miles, still smooth as a kitten's purr.

My Helsinki Smash Rod had a bad smell to it, but the stealership said it had another 5,000, or so, pounds left to it...
What is the actual lifecycle of a new Helsinki Smash Rod and are they actually available anywhere while you're out on the road? Maybe I should buy an extra and keep it in the trunk. Any thoughts? .

WOW!, those prices are great on those products. Thanks guys, I think I'm going to start buying my parts from Kale, instead of Pep-Boys. One testimonial said that he splashed a little bit of the blinker fluid in his eye, and even his eye wouldn't stop blinking. That's some superior performance if I ever saw it. I just ordered my new Muffler Bearings, and a couple gallons of Blinker fluid. I paid extra, for overnight shipping, so I should have them soon. I sent cash, in an envelope in the mail, because they don't accept personal checks, and my credit cards are in my girlfriend's purse, for safe keeping.

You know, you can just drive in reverse so that the odometer rolls back . . .

The usual cause of both muffler bearings failing at once is attributed to the misalignment of the mid air converter on the gaffanator valve. Be advised! The alignment procedure requires the use of a left handed metric crescent wrench and a piece of Teflon welding rod to provide the proper clearances.

That is SOOOO bogus! If you tried to do that then you would end up with upside down numbers. Turn the car on it's top, slip it into gear and allow the engine to run at mid throttle for about 242 hours. That'll fix it!

The reason why my replacement muffler bearing has lasted so long can be attributed to what my great grandfather learned when he was a kid.... Add a quart of oil to every tank of fuel, and the exhaust will carry enough of the lubricant through, to keep it in working order.
Man...I can't believe he remembered that from way back then...must've been around the 1870's or so when he learned that trick, and it still works today!

Firestone stores ALWAYS oversell, they have been doing it for years and years.
Just ask Fred Flintstone.

Was that vibration issue ever solved? I've got the same issue, except at about 170 mph in the 240D. I already had my tires flushed
