As the father of a 7yoS with Down syndrome I appreciated her comments and really don't see the humor in the use of the term. I just can't understand how poking fun of or denigrating a group that (generally) can't or won't speak up for itself is still deemed socially acceptable in some circles. To each their own, I guess.
