It’s easy to wonder how world leaders, journalists, religious figures and ordinary citizens looked the other way while six million Jews were killed in the Holocaust. And it’s even easier to assume that we’d do better.

But so far the brutal war here in eastern Congo has not only lasted longer than the Holocaust but also appears to have claimed more lives. A peer- reviewed study put the Congo war’s death toll at 5.4 million as of April 2007 and rising at 45,000 a month. That would leave the total today, after a dozen years, at 6.9 million.

Without reading the article, one needs to keep in mind that "The Holocaust" comes with trademark protection.

All because of the Wests and China's hunger for diamonds, gold, copper, cobalt, coltan, zinc, etc, etc.

Well the UN should do something about it, this is what they exist for. We don't have to provide 90% of the foot soliders for every UN operation. Maybe France or Germany can take the lead here and put 50k troops on the ground to stop this. Or how about China, they really want to be a 1st world power, perfect chance.

I know it isn't PC, but frankly the world doesn't care. If they did their would be peace keeping troops on the ground to stop it.

Only Jews died in the holocaust? Wow- and you deride others who get bad info.

It is estimated that 11 Million were victims of the Holocaust, of which an estimated 6 Million were Jewish. What's your point again?

The numbers have not shifted upwards- they have been a steady 13-17 million depending on various methods of estimation for over 40 years. The 6 million jews figure has stayed unchanged since the end of the war.

You're OP was saying the Holocaust should move over as soon there would be 6.9 mil dead, and the Holocaust had 6 million dead. I correctly pointed out that your figures were incorrect and frankly PI. More non jews died in the Holocaust than jews and you act like non jews were not murdered with your statement. It seems more and more jewish and non jewish folks want to state the Holocaust only killed jewish people. Most scholars estimate between 7 and 11 million non jews were murdered by the Hitler's minions. I hope you do not wish to "eliminate" those folks from histories memory by saying and stating that the Holocaust only had jewish victims.
