At this point, I would settle the debate by buying a Honda S2000.

when you do a compression test you disable the fuel supply. Having fuel being shot in the combustion chamber during a compression test will give you false readings, try it sometime. Do a compression test with the fuel pump or fuel injection enabled and with it disable. Only time you have to put any liquids in the combustion chamber is when you have a really low reading. Some of you obivously havent learned the right way to do a compression test.

This is the first I have heard of fuel in the chamber causing false readings. I have no problem with disabling the fuel pump, but I have always heard that testing with the throttle closed will give a false low reading. I tried it with my present Miata and found 15 to 20# low with the throttle closed.

I can imagine if you had enough fuel in there it could wash the oil off the cylinder walls and give a false low reading though.

The dealer said

198 factory, 146 psi minimum.

I feel I must assume the car in question's motor needs going through.

I believe it must have seen extensive track time somewhere along the line.

Finding numerous references to #3 and/or #4 cylinders giving low compression readings after running under forced induction....... FWIW.

Oh, I didn't mention I got those figures from the service department of the local Mazda dealer.
