driving a ****ty car does pay off. in my home town I'd speed like crazy in the Tercel. but as soon as i took the Mercedes over the speed limit its was like seeing a $ hood ornament the cops had to come after me... luckily here in Sacramento the Mercedes is just another old car.

If you can afford the 7 series dosent the " suggested" in suggested speed limit come heavily into play ???

I'll regularly cruise 100+ down the length of GA-316 when its nice and empty.. Having a nice (expensive) radar detector helps.

Knowing the road, and where the cops hiding spots is nice, and gives you an extra bit of comfort.

One thing I've discovered is to never speed "mildly", if a cop going the other way has time to turn around and catch up before you can disappear off an exit, your not going fast enough!

Check your rear mirrors and be weary of any car coming up from behind; its either a cop or a fellow speeder.

Watch the license plates of cars your coming up on, most states have a prefix or special format for police cars. Here in GA its GV-.

DO NOT get distracted by your cell phone!

This is coming from someone who has AVERAGED 100+ for almost every highway trip I've ever been on (about 4/week 40+ miles, 1/month 200+ miles), and has only 1 ticket from being distracted by a cell phone and passed a cop car...

Best time ever: UGA to LSU in 5:45. approx 625 miles.

I'm a believer in the more information, the better. in addition to
radar detectors a CB turned to channel 19 to listen to the truckers will clue you into a lotta smokey action. those truckers make it their business to know
where each and everyone of 'em hangs out. I'm talking specific
mile markers, exit ramps, right down to a description of the car (Ford,
Chevy, Dodge whatever) they have NEVER let me down.

(Mumbles) Crazy,Crazy,Crazy Kids

'Lucky they didn't get shot.

More than once in rush hour southbound on I-75 Between Cartersville and
Atlanta I've had the Whackos wave pistols at me in traffic ,cause I wasn't
going fast enough to suit them.

And to do their Civil Disobedience thing on I-285.... (Mumbles some more)

I've been on the Eastside perimeter northbound 2nd lane from the left (many
times) slightly below triple digits and have someone come up behind me
flashing the headlights,so I'll get out of their way.

Not like the old days though... Late '70s to the middle '80s I-285 was
Road Atlanta 24/7.
In between I-75 and South Cobb,Southbound, GSP chasing a topless blond in a red Ferrari
and she was pulling away like he was parked in the breakdown lane.

As long as the radio is big enough to reach out for the speed your driving . 4 watts sometimes dosent cut it.

Get behind a large car and hang on!!!

My personal best is Phoenix to Vegas in a hair under three hours in a bright red boxster. It's supposed to take five hours

I lived in Atlanta for several years and learned to drive in the Atlanta area. That's why I felt so at home driving in LA

Since they were actually doing the speed limit, wouldn't that make it an act of Civil Obedience?

You ever notice how on NB 75 around Stockbridge, the speed limit rapidly drops from 70 to 55, but traffic speeds up?

You're a ****ing champion!

I have to look for pictures, but I think my best 2000 mile Phoenix AZ - Bristol TN (2000mi) time is somewhere in the 26 hour range. I'll get back to you when I can find the picture.

I've always found truckers to be the best indicator of how fast one should go.

They always seem to slow down when there are hidden cops around

I want to buy a radar detector, but I get anxious when I got any faster than 75. So far setting the cruise at 73 seems to do me very well.

If I get pulled over I'll just tell the officer i was going the speed limit 65.

It took me 10 years of flawless driving. I was always hard on the pedal...I don't like to sit around. Never been hit with more than a warning. Always been Mercedes sedan cars.

Got my Porsche 944 Turbo. Within a little over a month after purchase of the thing, I'm nailed with a ticket for 64 mph in a 55 zone. And four frickin' points.

Epic car, ****ing sucks that you got nailed. Were you running a detector? What were the details on it?

64 in a 55, and its 4 points!? In GA they can't even pull you over for less than 10 over! No points if its less than 15. And I know someone who got his case dismissed on a 14 over because he requested a jury trial...
