What gives with the Hippy peace Sign at the begining of the address bar?
I noticed this a couple days ago.

Are we turning in the Peace and Love Flower childern group now?
I should paint flowers and other crap on my MB, wear a tied and dyed shirt and let my hair grow long along with smoke flowing out of my windows.

I remember the Beatniks in the Haight Ashberry District in San Francisco back in the early 60`s. then the Flower Childern the peace and love, and the Hippy`s etc...
I went in the U.S. Navy in 62 served my 4 yrs, 3 yrs plus on a Destroyer, 2 terms in Wespac etc running around in the South China Sea. Naval Gun Fure support for the marines, then having to spend most of the next day at sea high lining ammo from a ammo shop to rearm. refueling at sea either from a Carrier or Tanker and at times in the middle of the night in high seas. had to do this a couple times a wk. picking up a down flyier a few times etc..... and things I forgot.

I came back to the states and see all these long haired weardo`s protesting, burning the flag and spitting on guys in uniform coming home from Vietnam.
The guys in Uniform didn`t start the war. the politician did. go spit on him/her.

when I see this peace sign, it turns my stomach.
Do I believe the Vietnam war was good or useful and anything was accomplished??? NO. Do I believe in war? not necessarly. did we need to be there? no. did we accomplish anything? no.

Now there is Bush`s war in iraq, oh yeah we are out of there now right? obama said he would pull out the troops, but he just moved them over the border to the next rag head country. will we accomplish anything there? NO. it will be the same thing as Vietnam. I feel so much better now, obama is in charge, and we can all go tripping through the Tulips as we play on our Yukelle`s (sp) as we wave our little piece signs.

So what give with this stupid peace sign?

Now I`ll get back in my 300D and blow smoke up some peace fraks a$$.

I think the one on the top of the page is missing a leg if it's a peace sign. There is a lot of miss info on the peace sign, it did not originate as a hippy thing. The original symbol was a combination for the navy semaphore symbols for N & D and was used by a group asking for nuclear disarmament long before the hippy movement.

Charlie, Thanks for your service. I was a college student back then, courtesy of the college deferrment. Although I benefited from it I felt it was unfair and still support some form of universal service as I believe they have in Switzerland.

I was against the Vietnam war but never understood people who did things against service men.

Spitting on them? ...inexcusable.

Calling them baby killers? ....unconscienable.

I always felt our soldiers were as much victims of the war as the innocent farmers in VietNam who just wanted to feed their kids.

I'm sorry the peace sign offends you, but really it means nothing except peace as far as I know so you really should like it if you are against war.

Although I am against war if it is not necessary, clearly there are times it is necessary, such as WW2.
